Hi Christian,
the Retrokit Midi Cable is a Smart MIDI cable, with a Firmware to control the Volca Sample 1 or 2 from a single MIDI-channel.
So the Volce is only on Midi Channel 1, thats all. No,the error happens suddendly,
and i dont know why. Sometimes when I mute for example a drum and sometimes when the Zaquencer is just running.

Hi Markus,
I see how this could be annoying :-/
I’m not aware of any behavior in the Zaquencer that could cause this at the moment.
Can you please give me more information on the Volca? Which Midi messages would cause it to change pitch or sample volume?

What is the Retrokit cable doing? Might it be altering Midi messages in a non-benficial way?

Can you reproduce the error reliably in some circumstances?

Best,
Christian

Hello Christian,
the Zaquencer changes in the connection ( Retrokit cable) with my Volca Sample again and again the sample speed of my Volca, it changes the pitch . The problem occurs every now and then. It seems that the Zaquencer sends midi data to the Volca Sample and changes its sample speed. The frequency varies, sometimes nothing happens for an hour, then suddenly the Zaquencer pitches the speed. In addition, every now and then a drum sample randomly raises the volume, although the sample volume on the Volca is low, it is suddenly set to max. This problem also occurs from time to time.
Do you have an idea how I can solve the problem?
Greetings Markus

Hi! I am not aware of a behavior like this originating from the Zaquencer.

I recommend testing several things to investigate the issue.
- check out a different midi receiver
- omit the program change message to the cycle
- look at the Zaquencer’s midi output with a monitoring software like Midi-OX.

If the cycle really needs some time to react to the program change, maybe it’s an option to use a negative note delay on the first step, or send the command on the last step of the previous loop.

When running my cycle I seem to get random delay open the 1st step of the cycle in certain tracks. Is this the Zaquencer or is this qa midi problem? I have a program change in the initial step and that will make the synth select the program each cycle and this causes the delay perhaps… What would be a better way to have my preset select the right programs so I can avoid this problem?

This is bad news, but well.
It was worth a try and the unit looked good so far.

The DIRECTION button in the main menu is not working properly on my device.
It should be activated when hitting it once. But instead of activating the DIRECTION button, random other buttons light up, mostly Step Skip, Seq Start or Seq Length.
Occasionally I manage to activate the DIRECTION button by hitting it repeatedly twice, but this is certainly not how it should work.

One more idea regarding the Tap Write recording. There was an update that introduced monitoring mode (“Mon”) in display. This behaves exactly as you describe and is intentional for practicing before recording. Are you sure you´re using it in “rec” mode?
