Hello,

When Note Display is set to nA (Name), notes which aren’t in the current scale that Zaquencer is set to are shown in the display – though the closest note within the scale is what is being sent through MIDI. Would it be possible to have the display “latch” (for lack of a better term) to the actual note being played?

I’m hoping I was able to communicate this request clearly. Also, I have a feeling the firmware is no longer being updated?

Matthew

Yes! Me too, this is the only thing I am missing constantly with Zaquencer. Might be quite hard to program though because of the limitations of BCR.

The Scales of Harmonies: Here

This PDF contains an overview of the 33 scales presented in this NewJazz lesson: https://youtu.be/Vq2xt2D3e3E

The scales are organized in 7 families.

Each family has a specific interval pattern and the scales can be defined by the degree/starting-point on that interval pattern.

The 33 scales are derived by complying with some very simple rules:
1) The scales may only contain half, whole and whole-and-a-half steps.
2) Half steps may not be neighbors.
3) Whole and Whole-and-a-half steps may not be neighbors.
4) Whole-and-a-half steps may not be neighbors.

If we comply with these simple rules we limit our total number of scales to 33 AND we make sure
that all our scales are well suited for building up straightforward and evident harmonies.

That may also be why these 33 “scales of harmonies” have been so popular throughout western music history!!!

Hi Simon,

thanks for taking the time to write and for your feedback!

I can´t promise anything, but I´ll keep it in the back of my mind, in case I get around to doing a redesign of the overlay again.

Best,
Christian

Hi Christian

Thanks for this amazing development you did back in the day.

Just want to suggest, if you ever do another run of overlays… For me, the global functions do not have enough contrast to see in night-time. You might consider darkening the Global grey levels a bit, to create more contrast for the white text. Personally I just currently find them hard to read under lighting, no doubt in part because of 50 yr old eyes.

Cheers!

Hi Cokelaer,

Maybe this will help you:
It’s possible to recall a single track from a pattern into RAM.
To do so, in LOAD menu, hold the track button which you want to recall, while pressing a pattern button that you want to recall the track from (also see Manual page 25).

Unfortunately this doesn’t work for storing patterns (you always store all 4 tracks), but maybe it still helps you in the way you want to work.

Cheers,
Christian

Good Morning,
Could it be possible to access to change the pattern of only one track ?
For example, you select the track you want to change the pattern and while holding the track switch you choose the pattern.

In this condition, you will have the same behavior as the historic Rebirth :
4 fully independant instruments in which you can choose in between the 192 patterns already stored.

In this case, you keep the memory organization that you have today : no more pattern have to be saved, but you only load in RAM the part of the pattern you have choosen.

I do Believe this is not a big change in the way it is programmed : I have built my own sequencer in the past (on ATMEGA 2560) and each pattern was stored in a table. When Calling a pattern, it was just a change in the pointer to the address where to read the data which where transfered to the RAM at the time when I need them.

Hi Ulrich,
if the display says LOAD, you have most likely entered bootloader mode, by holding Stora & Load during power up.
The factory reset works by holding page< and start/stop during power up (will erase all patterns and settings).
If it says LOAD it expects a firmware update to be sent to the BCR via SysEx.
You can try that too, but I doubt it helps with the Direction button.
As I wrote in the other thread, it sounds like your BCR is affected by the known hardware bug, that some devices unfortunately have:

Hi Christian,
I’ve tried the factory reset as described but now the Zaquencer is stalled, with the display saying LOAD.
What next?
I wanted to try out the reset as the Direction button didn’t work as expected.
