i am looking into midi-cv converter modules so i can reach eurorackland from the zaq. using the 4 tracks in drum mode would produce maximum 64 voices so i put this case aside for the time being.
so 4 chord modes would lead to maximum 4 voices – ignoring the chord function which, again, would be overload. and there are 8 CCs. would be great to have them converted into 4 cvs as well. so far the best solution seems to be the qMI from Vermona – http://www.vermona.com/index.php/en_qmi.html
reading through the manual it seems close to perfect! but for a price.
any opinions? experience? recommendations? alternatives?December 19, 2014 at 4:59 pm #1741try this company. not sure if they make midi to cv but i thought i saw something at one point
December 19, 2014 at 6:47 pm #1742they make cool audio/spdif/lightpipe to cv converter modules but nothing with midi. thanks anyway.
January 12, 2015 at 6:38 am #1955I haven’t used the Vermona. It looks awesome but are they still making it? Wasn’t able to find anyone selling it. So far I’ve used my microbrute as a midi to cv converter and today I trsted my friend’s Kenton box and it worked perfectly. It’s obviously a lot simpler than the Vermona. Do you already have a large euro setup? Doing polyphony in modular can be really expensive/impractical. I suppose using the midi ccs as cv modulation could be cool, but it’s just gonna be stepped sample and hold type stuff.
January 12, 2015 at 8:29 pm #1961it’s at least in stock at both schneidersladen and thomann in germany right now. i have a small but growing euro setup so i would find something to do for the 4 note channels. but your objection regarding the cc’s then being only 128 cv steps makes me put my plan into question. thanks for the input!
February 2, 2015 at 3:00 pm #2105I use the Vermona Mono Lancet with Mod Dock for my small euro rig. The Mono Lancet is the heart of the system with a series of utility modules. It gives me jacks for pitch, gate, velocity, after touch, pitch and mod wheels as well. It doesn’t do much good for clocking though so I use a SyncGen from innerclock. I run the pulse output of it in to the clock in on a Vermona Fourmulator which then allows me to divide or multiply the clock signal in multiple ways to apply time synced filter sweeps, etc on the rest of the Euro rig.
March 30, 2016 at 5:34 pm #4648I was looking at the Vermona Qmi too, but also found the Doepfer a-190-5 for a little cheaper. Haven’t ordered anything yet. Be aware that there is a QMI v2. I can’t find any info on what the difference is though.
Just ordered on of these though!

MIDI to 24 trigger outs!!! Will probably only use 16 though.
Wondering if I can hack into power inside the bcr and build the whole thing into it (could wire midi out b straight to it). Looking for cheap jacks now.
March 31, 2016 at 1:45 pm #4649There is this one for €135.

If you search modulargrid for “midi to cv” you should get every option around and a few that aren’t.
For your money, you get way more with a Muc!

I want a Muc-810!
April 25, 2016 at 1:25 pm #4724I just purchased the Zaquencer to control my eurorack.
Since my Hexinverter midi2cv also uses 4 chanels it seemed perfect!
So far it works out for me!http://www.hexinverter.net/midi2cv/
