My setup is following:
Nektar Panorama P6 (with some usual M-Audio sustain pedal/switch) -> Zaquencer -> Waldorf Blofeld (desktop version)Zaquencer is set to passing MIDI through and it works great. But now I noticed that the sustain pedal is behaving strangely. When I am holding key and then press the pedal, I can release key and sustain works correctly. But when I firstly press the pedal and just press and release key the sustain is not working and tone ends immediately when I release the key (like if pedal is not down). When Panorama is connected directly to Blofeld then pedal is working as expected.
I hope that the explanation does make sense. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong or the information about the fact that pedal is down is lost somewhere inside the Zaquencer.
Thanks for any help.
November 28, 2015 at 8:40 am #3548Hi Lowcase,
the first thing to check is which mode the MIDI through on the Zaquencer is set to.
There is a filtered mode (that filters out all data which is relevant for the Zaquencer) and an unfiltered mode, that just sends everything to the output.
Filtered mode is depicted with an “F” (plus output A/B)in the display, unfiltered does only show the output A/B. I would recommend for testing to make sure it´s set to unfiltered mode.I was not able to find the manual for the Panorama.
Can you be more specific what sort of MIDI message the sustain pedal information is?Do you have the possibility to look at the MIDI data after the Zaq with a MIDI monitor software running on a computer? I´m sure you can see quite nicely what happens to the messages.
Cheers,
ChristianNovember 28, 2015 at 2:01 pm #3550I checked the MIDI messages and it is even stranger then before. The messages are exactly the same so Zaquencer seems to be working correctly.
TIMESTAMP IN PORT STATUS DATA1 DATA2 CHAN NOTE EVENT 0001494D 1 2 90 3C 6E 1 C 4 Note On 00014ADC 1 2 90 3C 00 1 C 4 Note Off 00015555 1 2 B0 40 7F 1 --- CC: Pedal (Sustain) 00015A5D 1 2 90 3C 75 1 C 4 Note On 00015B30 1 2 90 3C 00 1 C 4 Note Off 00015EB9 1 2 B0 40 00 1 --- CC: Pedal (Sustain)
First pedal message is when it was pressed and second when it was released. But even that messages are untouched the Blofeld is behaving as I described in previous post. When I press the pedal the MIDI let will blink so the message is received but I don’t understand why it is ignored.
Could it be some issue with the MIDI cable? I have only two of them so I can’t try to use different one right now. But currently the behavior is still the same when I switch the cables.
