hello rick
i also have a keystep and it gets some time to make it works properly since its clock management sucks. The issue is about keystep doubling clock on its output if you chain it downstream the Zaq.
What i found works for me is to use it with own clock upstream to Zaq input. Then rely on amazing clock filtering and routing in zaq itself to send notes and clock to devices (i have just one device -.- ).
Check also about different firmwares on arturia site. From what I remember they made a total mess with upgrades, and this is why I keep the old original one which is ok.
you can listen to them on action here

…. Then I thought about actually adjusting (using) the controllers in Mixer Menu, because the encoders are not in use there. Just a very simple, straightforward functionality”even without user mapping ability, to have available 32 encoders to assign would be very sweet. maybe you could pack this set of CC on next release :-))

i beg for your pardonMay 30, 2017 at 9:58 am #5824p.s. yes i have a hardware merger on input (midi solution) with keybed and controllers + ableton loopback sync
May 30, 2017 at 9:56 am #5823hello Christian
thank you for your fast support. i found this issue is related to trasposing feature.
1) t1-t4 ch 1-4, trasposing ch13-16 = no note off on thru
2) t1-t4 ch 1-4, no trasposing == everything finei will replicate the error in the evening then ll send you a dump
with love

March 15, 2017 at 9:19 am #5640I apologize to bump up an old question but im tempted to reconsider the usage of zaquencer on myset and my concern is about losting the ability to control my drum sounds. is there any news on present argument ?
cheers
March 15, 2017 at 9:10 am #5639i would like also to be able to select channels on drums notes to easily deal with sampled drums
February 10, 2016 at 8:44 pm #3836“There should be enough memory left in the global settings to map 32 encoders for controller purposes.Would that fit your bill?”
AMAZING!!
“One thing I´m not sure about yet is if/how to store the actual values of the controllers (the types, yeah, but the actual value you set e.g. a filter to). Would that be important to you?”
starting from init patch is always funnier
“Again, I only know if it´ll work once I get around to start working on it, which might be a while, so please do not get your hopes up too high just yet.”
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
P.S. i bet it requires some efforts to develop routines to assign midi CC on encoder inside Zaquencer itself, if that is the case external sysex editing (as we do with easypar stuff) is totally fair to me.
P.S.2 if you also could assign a tempo pith bend to footswitches since guys on decks always complaint about oneway sync.
Respect
February 6, 2016 at 5:54 pm #3813alien brain maybe you misunderstood me im not talking about lanes and sequenced modulation but just as a way to shape sounds on devices as the original bcr2000 firmware does. yes i know i might use one bcr2000 for sequencing with Zaquencer and another one for controlling with original hardware but AS I SAID i would like to save space on my desk and do both functions on same unit with acceptable limitations.
